With a name like The Martini Factory, it may be misleading that this company works with emerging designers as a one-stop shop for their designing and manufacturing needs. However, this company is just as creative as its name! Learn more about the company through our Q &A session!
Q:1 Please state for our readers your name and your connection with The Martini Factory.
A: Janet Howard (CDFA Designer) & Kim Barbieri -Managing Partners

Q:2 How did the idea of The Martini Factory come about?
A: Janet and I looked long and hard to find a “one-stop shop” for our designs and manufacturing needs. After months of searching with no results, we decided we would do it ourselves. Using ourselves as a benchmark, we found that we were really good it and had amazing results.
Q:3 Is there a story behind the name “The Martini Factory”?
A: Who doesn’t love a dirty Martini? We wanted to create a name that was so different in the fashion industry, people would remember it.

Q:4 Who is part of your staff? Do you hire outside of the company?
A: We have a Parsons designer on staff with us, as well as we partner with 11 factories both locally and around globe from NYC, Europe, Middle-East to Asia. These partnerships are based on their commitment to quality, safety and compliance. 
Q:5 Who are your clients?
A: We are delighted that our many clients choose to work with us, including a diversity of new, emerging and established designers, global brands, department stores, boutiques, celebrities, private label, catalogue, and ecommerce sites.

Q:6 What are the different services do emerging designers can utilize? 
A:Martini Factory is a full service design and manufacturing agency for sampling and production. We have a hands-on approach to managing every aspect of your design and development process from concept to consumer.
Our team of CFDA and Parson’s designers, work closely with you to meet each individual need from inspiration, sketching, tech packs, grading/fit, to sourcing and choosing fabrics from our vast in-house library.
Q:7 Can you explain the process a designer would go through with your company?
A: Whether designers come to us with a specific direction or need our help in conceptualizing ideas and inspirations, our creative design team is there every step of the way. Between brainstorming, sketching, designing, sourcing and developing, we make sure your vision becomes reality.
We source fabrics, skins, sundries, etc. from factories, mills and suppliers around the globe. We have a hands-on approach to managing every aspect of your design and development process from concept through delivery. We facilitate it all, allowing designers to do what they do best.

Q:8 How do you feel The Martini Factory stands out? 
A: Competition in the fast-changing fashion industry is intense. Our design teams’ ability to sense and respond effectively to changes and challenges in this competitive landscape is essential to our business.

Q:9 How many different locations do you currently have? Can you talk about the new opening in London?
A: Our main office is in SoHo, New York City. In the spring, we are opening an office in London to help facilitate our global clients. Its easier for them to make “physical” arrangements from Dubai, S. Africa, Middle East, and of course, UK… Also, there isn’t any business quite like ours in the London area. We would love for new, emerging and established designers to have this opportunity!
