Newport Restaurant Week is an Experience Worth Every Penny!

Being a relatively recent transplant to Rhode Island, one thing I appreciate about this state are all the local restaurants. I love eating local, supporting local businesses, and learning the local surroundings. So when I heard Newport was having their restaurant week, I jumped at the opportunity to check out multiple restaurants. But what restaurants to visit?

Before heading to Newport to explore the many fabulous restaurants, first head over to Discover Newport’s website to get a list of participating restaurants. Here, you can make a game plan of where to eat and whether they are serving lunch and dinner or just dinner. Not all establishments are participating in the lunch specials, or are open for lunch, and it would be sad to pull up to a restaurant with a closed sign hanging on the door.

After you determine which restaurant looks appealing, then review the menu if you haven’t already. The restaurant week menu has limited options and it’s best to know this head of time. Both lunch and dinner are three-course meals and lunch costs $16 while dinner is $35. These prices do not include drinks, gratuity or taxes but for the quality of the restaurants, this is an extreme bargain. Once everything is determined, I highly recommend calling to make a reservation to ensure a table.

So far, I have checked out three different restaurants for lunch. My coworkers and I have went to 22 Bowen’s which is located at Bowen’s Wharf in downtown Newport, One Bellevue at The Hotel Viking, and Castle Hill Inn Restaurant (located in a Victorian Mansion). All these restaurants not only served exquisite food but had a one of a kind atmosphere. One could tell that they took pride in creating an overall experience for their patrons. I don’t plan on releasing my favorite dishes until Newport Restaurant Week is over on Sunday, November 15.

Later today, I have a reservation at The Safari Room at OceanCliff for lunch and I can’t wait to experience this restaurant which overlooks the Narragansett Bay. Add us on snapchat (StyleWeekNe) to get a first-hand view of the restaurant, food, and views.

If you can’t make it to restaurant week this time around, then join StyleWeek in Newport this summer for AU Courant. Join us as we turn Newport into a fashion event. This event hosted with Child & Family, raises funds to help the lives of children and families in the state of Rhode Island. One gets to enjoy multiple runway shows, a cocktail party, and designer sales.

StyleWeek loves highlighting all the wonderful things that are happening in our very own state. If you’re looking for something to do this weekend then, check out Newport Restaurant Week. It will make a nice and inexpensive date night or will allow you to try restaurants at a bargain price. Let us hear about your favorite dishes and restaurants in the comments below!
